This very small zoo is perfect for young children. It houses a variety of native wildlife including eagles, coyotes, sheep, pigs, rabbits and even a mountain lion. It’s located in the Irvine Regional Park, which is a beautiful park with trees, a lake and walking paths. There are also picnic areas, train and pony rides. Admission is $2 for ages 3+. Parking $3 per car/weekdays ($5/weekends and higher on Holidays). Train and pony rides are extra. www.ocparks.com/oczoo
Directions: 5 FWY to Jamboree and head east for 7.5 miles. Enter at Irvine Park Main Gate. Or try the scenic route: Take El Toro east about 10 miles, past the 241/261 interchange (El Toro turns into Santiago Canyon). Turn right on Jamboree. Can also take the 241 North toll road, exit Santiago Canyon toward Chapman Ave, left on Santiago Canyon Road, right on Jamboree and right on Irvine Park Road.
