Developmental Resources Notebook 

If you are interested in other developmental information on current issues, please see the Developmental Resource Notebooks next to the library at each general meeting. These notebooks contain developmental milestones information with extra copies of each article for you to take home and read.

Service Resources Available:   

Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC): The initial agency in your area/county where persons with developmental disabilities of all ages, and their families, can go for help to obtain services in such areas as occupational therapy, feeding issues, speech therapy etc. No cost to the family, a government funded agency. (www.rcocdd.com) Main intake office (714) 796-5100. 

Early Start Program of California (through Regional Center): Eligibility: Infants and toddlers; Birth to 36 months of age; determined to be at risk, or have developmental delays. Developmental needs are assessed through an evaluation and family concern. Your pediatrician can give you a referral to the Early Start Program and this will start the process much quicker. Also, if your babies were born before 32 weeks the hospital should have automatically given you a referral to the Early Start Program upon discharge from the hospital. No cost to the family. Criteria of 33% delay required for services. Services include occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, feeding issues, sensory integration issues, autism etc. 

California Children Services (CCS): Provides comprehensive medical diagnosis, treatment, therapy and related services to children with severe physically handicapping conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, congenital heart disease etc. Individuals from 0-21 years of age; No charge to the family. http://www.dhs.ca.gov/pcfh/cms/ccs/ 

Private Insurance: Guidelines of your insurance policy.  

Private Pay 

Lanterman Act: Is the part of California law that sets out the rights and responsibilities and establishes an entitlement to services and supports for persons with developmental disabilities, those at risk for developing a developmental disability and their families. The Lanterman Act creates the Regional Center as the central coordinating agency in a community network. http://www.ggrc.org/rr_lanterman_act.htm
